Podcasting Tips
Want to pick up some tips about podcasting without leaving your desk?
Below are a series of audio seminars on podcasting. You’ll notice we’ve dredged up a few ‘vintage podcasts’.
They’re vintage because they’re about three years old and that’s ancient history for the youthful medium of podcasting.
High Quality Versions Available
Some of these seminars run 20 minutes. Because this requires lots of file space, we’ve published these at radio quality. But they can’t be download.

Scripting Your Podcast
There are many reasons to script your podcast. One reason is it frees your mind to focus on the quality of your delivery – intonation, expression and so on. But what makes a good script? In this podcast, Jonathan Halls offers tips on word choice, sentences, phrases and quotations.
Key to Compelling Podcasts: Relationship
It’s important to build a relationship with your listener if you intend on having him or her subscribe to your podcast on a regular basis. And there are many ways you can do this which are employed by professional broadcasters. In this podcast, Jonathan suggests two to get you started. The first is ‘one-to-one’. The second is script your podcast.
Top 5 Tips for Podcasting
Back in 2006, I produced a series of five podcasts offering my ‘top 5′ tips for new podcasters.
Loads of people in seminars and at conferences had been asking me to give them my ‘top 5′ tips for creating unbeatable podcast content. So here they are, produced in late 2006 and published in early 2007 on my former website, podcastersportal.com.
Tip 1: Relationship
Our first tip: Build a relationship with your listener. Your messages are always more effective when wrapped in the context of a relationship. How do you build a relationship? Listen to this short podcast for ideas.
Tip 2: Listener Centricity
Our second tip: Make sure your podcasts are listener-centric. If your podcasts are not listener-centric, why should your listener subscribe? Listen to this short podcast for ideas to give your podcast real power
Tip 3:Be Clear on Purpose
Our third tip: Be clear about your purpose. It will give you a real edge. A clear purpose will speed up your editorial decision-making and sharpen your content. It will also make your story or message easier to understand.
Tip 4: Be Context Sensitive
If the saying, “content is king” is true, then “context” must be queen. There’s no point spending all your time making valuable content if the context undermines everything you do. Find out why some people are creating podcasts that on the surface may sound great but in reality never reach an audience because they’re being produced in a vacuum.
Tip 5: Develop Your Production Skills
Knowing what makes a good podcast isn’t all it takes to create awesome podcasts. You actually need to develop your production skills. The better your podcast production skills, the easier it is going to be for you to create great content, faster. You will improve the standard of your content, make it more appealing to your audience and discover how to cut corners without cutting quality. In this session Jonathan suggests three ways to take your knowledge and over time, continually build the skills to create awesome podcasts.
